一、內容：
This required course for sophomores offers opportunity for further development of English oral skills, correcting pronunciation errors, and listening comprehension practice through (1) creative individual oral presentation projects; (2) poetry recitation; and (3) take-home listening comprehension exercises.
(1) Oral presentation projects: These may include practice in reading an article aloud, telling ghost stories, presenting a ski8ll to the class, giving movie reviews, practicing telephone English, writing and performing skits and plays, producing a mock TV-news program, and writing/translating poetry and reading it to the class.
(2) Poetry: Students will be asked to memorize and recite one poem each week. Students will receive intensive individual guidance and correction on their pronunciation when they recite the poems.
(3) Take-home listening comprehension exercises: These will include transcriptions, cloze exercises, and answering questions on the content of recorded pieces, e.g. stories, book readings, talk radio, TV and movie dialogs, and pop songs.

二、成績評量方式：
Students who are absent from more than three classes or late to class more than five times without a valid excuse will not receive a grade for this course. Students are requested to bring a blank 90-minute cassette tape on which will be recorded the poems and some of the listening exercises.
